02Our Story

A seafarer, a son and a paintbrush.

Mickey’s Real Wood Upcycled Furniture is a family-driven initiative born from a love for the sea and a deep commitment to preserving Myanmar’s natural beauty. As a seafarer, Mickey witnessed his fellow sailors craft discarded wood found on the ships and in ports into functional and beautiful furniture. In Myanmar, deforestation due to unsustainable wood harvesting is a sad reality and a threat to his son, who longs to be a park ranger. Inspired by this ingenuity and his son’s dream of protecting Myanmar’s forests, he founded a company dedicated to sustainability.

Partnering with his father, an artist whose vibrant paintings captured the essence of Myanmar’s natural beauty, Mickey crafts unique upcycled furniture that tells a story of resourcefulness, craftsmanship, and environmental preservation. Mickey’s Real Wood continues to exist today to integrate sustainability into every household and intentionally portray a greener Myanmar for the younger generations.

We sustainably source our raw materials and repurpose old furniture and reclaimed wood to reduce the need to harvest new wood. Our pieces are built in high quality, minimising waste and resource consumption.
